Sherwood Estate

Located near Kolkata, Sherwood Estate offer a place to ‘live amidst nature’. This project was to create a landscape that reflects this value within the residential gated community that comprised mainly of mid-rise residential blocks around patches of green. The approach to landscape was to create a central green spine, with multi-scalar parks, courts, walkways and incidental green spaces that can support a variety of outdoor fitness, lifestyle and entertainment activities.

The harmonious use of paved and green spaces not only offers more than 50% of green cover but also imbues mental peace for the residents. The carefully landscaped public spaces incorporate all the existing mature trees on site - creating a balanced natural ecosystem that offers a soothing environment and reduces carbon footprint. This landscape itself encourages residents to spend more time with their families in the cluster gardens that improve quality of social life and general well-being. The landscape has become of the central features of this project and was instrumental in enhancing both the project feasibility and the liveability.
