This is a manual of Community based Rural Tourism that was developed to facilitate an impactful methodology of conceptualising, implementing and operating such initiatives. Though many such initiatives are undertaken and operate independently within the country - the focus of this manual was to provide guidelines, processes and methodologies that can be adopted to maximise the involvement of and benefit to the immediate community.

Unlike other tourist ventures that end up mutilating the natural landscape and unique socio-cultural features of a place, this manual seeks to preserve the nature and heritage of the project area as they are, in fact, the principal attractors for tourism. Through examples, the manual elaborates on the roles, responsibilities and focus of the five major stakeholders who are usually involved - the community, the support group/ network, the panchayat body, the tourists and the Ministry of Tourism. The project elaborates of trajectories of positive impact, mechanisms of implementation, soft and hard skill development and so on.
