Sri Hari Global School(s)

SIDCL in pursuit of  their development programme for Shristinagar, Asansol wanted to construct Shri Hari Global School (SHGS) as an important social infrastructure that connects the township and the brand to the citizens of Asansol and also enhances the liveability of the new township.

SHGS is conceived as a pilot project for the upcoming SIDCL townships in the country.  Sri Hariji has envisioned that our future lies in educating young minds and making them aware of Indian ethos, values and culture while also exposing them to modern pedagogy. Therefore, these projects have tried to explore an architecture language that provides students freedom to explore within the safety of the school and make them aware of the role of nature, natural environments, shared values and collective thinking in our life.  A low-rise traditional courtyard typology has been preferred over the compact double loaded corridor system. This has helped in visual continuity and effective monitoring without being too obvious and has also increased chance interactions.  Daylight systems and passive architecture have been considered to reduce energy demands.  The Architecture style has taken inspiration from  traditional Indian Buddhist architecture for a rooted ambiance and a reference to monastic discipline.

The school is successful, and a new school is being designed following these principles in Guwahati.
