Uttor Banga Krishi Vidyalaya - Landscape

This project is within the existing Uttor Banga Krishi Vidyalaya (UBKV) campus located at Coochbehar, West Bengal. The brief is to connect the existing buildings, roads and proposed buildings in a seamless way to give create the feel of a campus. The proposal also has to keep in mind possibilities and plans of future expansion.

The landscape proposal thus incorporated components of site development and site services such as drainage, groundcover, parking spaces, general illumination and so on. The plan hierarchically laid down a system of main thoroughfares, roundabouts, public spaces that also made the campus layout legible and easily comprehensible. The main focus is on maintainability. To soften this hardscape, incidental open spaces break down the scale of this formal arrangement, a major site level public space is created in the form of an Open Air Amphitheatre. Pedestrian movement is segregated, dedicated greens are created with a forest of evergreen trees, existing trees are retained to create a landscape that is enjoyable, liveable as well as enjoyable.
