Geeta Palace

Robin Pal is a concerned citizen of Santipur and has a history of doing things for the local community. He had a plot that he wanted to develop to serve a particular community need. The resultant building, named so in remembrance of his mother serves multiple functions. Predominantly it functions as a wedding venue for the surrounding community and is so functionally equipped with large halls and enough service infrastructure to handle large crowds. There is a fully functional guest house on the upper floors.

The building takes visual and typological clues from a villa to convey grandeur and opulence suitable to hosting important social functions and events like marriages. There is an expansive lawn in front which acts as an outdoor public space. The recent acquisition of the plot behind has further increase the scale and possibilities of this open space.

Geeta palace today is one of the landmark event spaces in the Sonarpur area, and a fitting tribute to his mother who was passionately involved in the community social life.
