Reshamkhana was conceived as an adaptive reuse proposal for the historic Solina Silk Filatures in Srinagar, reimagining the campus as a centre for the preservation and promotion of Kashmir’s silk-making heritage.
The proposal focused on revitalising both the site’s architectural fabric and its intangible cultural legacy through responsible retrofitting, sustainable adaptive reuse, and institutional strengthening. By reorganising existing spaces and integrating traditional crafts, material knowledge, and local skills, the project sought to create a platform for cultural continuity and future resilience.
Envisioned as a centre of excellence, Reshamkhana proposed a model where heritage conservation, craft revival, and contemporary institutional programming converge to create a viable and enduring cultural resource.
